About Dr. Lia Bishop.
Hi - I’m really glad you’re here.
My name is Lia Bishop; I am a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of Ember Psychology. For more than a decade, I have helped adults (both individuals and couples) heal from traumatic events and painful experiences.
Therapy can be daunting. There are so many providers, companies, and products offering strategies for healing; it can be hard to figure out what will actually work for you. I founded Ember Psychology in order to create a practice that offers strategies for healing that you can trust.
At Ember Psychology, I provide evidence-based care. That means that the treatments I offer are grounded in science and have been shown to work. Alongside this foundation in science, my approach is very human. You will find that I am an active therapist – I will challenge you, laugh with you, align with you in moments of pain, root for you, and always ask for honesty—no matter how messy or uncomfortable that honesty may be. In return, I will offer you respect, compassion, and tailored care.
Clients often share that they are surprised by the way our work feels. They describe being nervous to begin, but also feeling “lighter” and less burdened faster than they expected. They describe being able to talk openly (about their trauma history, identities, beliefs, fears, etc.), without feeling judged, and as one client put it “it’s like the fog is gone and I can finally think and breathe again”.
Therapy has the potential to be transformative. It is important to do this type of therapy with someone you trust, in a space where you feel supported and understood. If you think Ember Psychology might be that space for you, please reach out.
Take care,
Dr. B
